Welcome to Bit-O-Sexy, a column designed to turn you on to horror by featuring images, trailers, products, and whatever else I deem worthy of being called sexy. Now, in the case of this column, anything deemed sexy is not always going to be sexy in the traditional sense, but will always focus on cool horror related people, pictures, trailers, and things.
This time out we are going to take a little look at a piece from my collection. It is a recent addition, a little metal beauty that took some doing to get made (not by me, of course), with the end result being something that is a little sexy and a little badass.
It is a figure of Robby the Robot, made famous in the science fiction classic Forbidden Planet. Robby would later appear in The Invisible Boy and a number of television shows, including opposite The Robot in Lost in Space. No matter how you slice it, this is one cool robot.
What makes this Robby so cool and sexy is the fact that it was made out of old parts, reclaimed metal, if you will. The result is not an exact duplicate of the robot, but the likeness is uncanny and the fact it is made of spare metal is just fantastic.
Take a look:
Not bad, right? It is amazing the level of detail and just looks pretty awesome standing there. The man who made it has quite a talent, with a table filled with reclaimed metal versions of Gollum, Iron Man, Minons, an X-Wing, an AT-AT, and all manner of other things. I love this stuff.
