I’m going to be spotlighting a book this week, simply because of my love of Alien. You put a xenomorph in a comic, and I’m going to buy it. The same principle applies to Predator, and is exactly why I own every issue of Archie vs Predator. For that same reason, This week, I’ll be buying my very first Vampirella comic, as the classic vampiress takes on the xenomorph horde in Aliens/Vampirella.
Actually, I’m sort of excited about this not only for the Aliens, or my first real taste of a Vampirella comic, but because of writer Corinna Bechko. The only other book I’ve read from her was a sci-fi book that came out from Dark Horse that came out last year titled Deep Gravity, which she co-wrote with Mike Richardson. She proved with that title that she definitely has some chops when it comes to sci-fi/horror, so I’ve got some faith that this book will be a fun read.
Solicit from Dynamite Comics:
Humans have begun to colonize Mars, but something ancient and sinister got there first. Now Vampirella is faced with a mystery only she can solve, and the bloody realization that some monsters should never be awakened.
Aliens/Vampirella is a 6 issue monthly mini-series, with a $3.99 cover price.
Other notables this week include the fifth and final issue of the current Baltimore arc Cult of the Red King, and Alan Moore continues to intertwine Lovecraft and American History in Providence #4.
