Ciao cari lettori, this week let me pay a little tribute to the Italian director and writer Alberto de Martino, who sadly passed away this week.
As he once told in an interview for the Spanish fanzine El Buque Maldito, recently posted on the Spanish blog La Abadía de Berzano, he started working on the cinema thanks to his father, who happened to be a make-up cinema artist and got him a little role in SON OF SCIPIO (1937).
After being an actor in several films while he was a child, he started writing screenplays, as the one he did for the series I TRE MOSCHETTIERI (1956) and being director assistant in Filippo’s NOI SIAMO LE COLONNE (1956) and Simonelli’s NAPOLI SOLE MIO! (1956).
It was in 1961 when he directed his first film: IL GLADIATORE INVINCIBILE, a successful flick which helped him continue working for the cinema industry. Many other movies were about to come, being 7, HYDEN PARK: LA CASA MALEDETTA (1985) his last one.
